Our Story

Founded in 1963 as the United Fund of Rhea County and later evolving into the United Way of Rhea County in 1986, our organization has remained dedicated to strengthening the community by addressing critical human service needs. Led by a volunteer board, our first campaign raised nearly $560,000, laying the foundation for ongoing support in areas such as education, health, and financial stability. Over the years, we have expanded our reach, funding agencies that provide childhood and adult education, domestic violence recovery, and essential financial assistance. In 1987, we opened our first office in downtown Dayton, eventually moving to our current location at 224 4th Ave, Suite 101, where we are strategically positioned to serve those in need. Today, United Way of Rhea County continues to bring the community together to solve its most pressing challenges, ensuring that local resources are used effectively to create lasting change. With your support, we make Rhea County a better place to live, work, and raise a family - because local people know how to make it work for local people.
